The Walter Payton Health and Wellness Center was completed in 2006, as the centerpiece of the new Jackson State University Walter Payton Athletics Complex.

The 100,000 square foot facility houses a strength and aerobic conditioning center, three basketball courts, three racquetball courts, a squash court, patios and spacious locker rooms for men and women.

Named after JSU and NFL great Walter Payton, the center is used by JSU students, faculty and staff and is one of the first facilities of its kind at a historically black college or university.
